Simone Rocha's LFW solo show in September 2011 featured sheer hems for her spring/summer 12 collection. It looked fresh and was an instant hit with press and buyers alike. Quite often in my job as a trend forecaster it's hard to put your finger on why a trend is so right, it just is. And so we find ourselves in Autumn 2013 and you've guessed it, sheer hems are big news. Before we look at whats trending now, lets look back to summer 2013 and see how the trend unfolded.
For spring/summer 13 a number of catwalk designers followed suit showing a variety of sheer panels, hems and sheer overlays.
The longevity of sheer will last well into 2014 as it featured in many catwalk shows for SS14. It's a trend to love because it's easy to customise an old skirt or dress with a sheer length of fabric! Better still check out charity and vintage shops/fairs and look for sheer bits of fabric or whole skirts that may be customised or worn over as a layer piece.
What's next for Spring/Summer 14
Check out Rita Ora who made an appearance in the DKNY catwalk show this September.
What to invest in right now.....
