Creative Walls

Creative Walls by Geraldine James is an inspirational purchase if you love to be creative with your home. It's brimming with a plethora of ideas on how to display your treasured collections. A particular favourite is an "altar" created by stacking clear acrylic boxes on top of one another to dsiplay your precious items, the clever bit is you can change their content quickly and easily to form a new visual. Altering displays within the home can provoke a new atmosphere in a room, tell a new story about the individuals who live in them. Walls are like a blank canvas, a chance to display things that make you smile with wonder; pose a question; or warm your heart with love and familiarity. Being an avid collector of beautiful books, pottery, affordable art, glass, photographs, vintage fashion plates and posters I am always looking for clever ways to display them. Sources of  inspiration can come from friends houses, cafe's, museums, stately homes, books, vintage and antique fairs.

Take vintage wallpaper and frame it, use the same design several times in odd frames to create a subtle pattern, or take two or three designs and frame for a patchwork collage effect.  For simplicity pile it on a shelf!

Vintage tiles are often unique in pattern like the ones used at FLATPLANET cafe, a unique way of displaying pastries and other foodie offers. Pick up some eclectic tiles of your own, usually found in antique shops or flea markets and take inspiration from FLATPLANET and use with food or display on shelves or walls.

Pop in to Ikea for a display shelf and create your own art form. Use books, perfume bottles, and tiles for eclectic individual style that evokes character and charm. Change it regularly to suit your mood and reflect your creative evolution.
