Artistic Flavours

Happy New Year to all. May 2014 be your best year yet!

Spring fashion is upon us, perhaps a welcome distraction from the adverse weather conditions we are experiencing here in the UK. It's easy to lose yourself in the print forms this year, they are bold, free and abstract.  I first talked about abstract print in October 2013, showing how fashion and the art world have collided. Recently a cluster of designers have been inspired by artistic painterly forms and this marks a shift toward a less constrained look. This trend has longevity and will develop over the coming seasons, perfect to invest in right now. Celine one of the most influential design houses cemented this shift showing a collection of brush stroke graffiti inspired prints for SS14. Less exposed designers, Cedric Charlier and Lela Rose featured abstract effects in their resort collections for SS14. I have my eye on & Other Stories, their abstract top and brush stroke dress are must buys.
